35 MPs submit requests for housing

35 MPs have already submitted requests for official residences at the Madiwela Housing Complex, Secretary-General of Parliament, Kushani Rohanadeera said.

Speaking to media, the Secretary-General that there will be no changes to the privileges currently granted to Members of Parliament.

Rohanadeera explained that 25-30 houses previously returned by former MPs are currently being renovated to provide residences for new MPs, adding that these official residences will be allocated based on priority.

Out of a total 108 official residences, 80 are designated for members of the ruling party, while 28 are reserved for opposition members.

MPs whose homes are located more than 40 kilometers from the Parliament complex are eligible to request official residences at the Madiwela Housing Complex. (Newswire)
