The Ministry of Transport and Highways has decided to issue temporary driver’s licences to foreign visitors at the Katunayake airport upon arrival, it is reported.
According to a report by News First, the ministry has decided to set up a dedicated counter at the Katunayake Airport for this purpose.
It is reported that the ministry intends to officially launch the new procedure with effect from 03 August this year.
Per the existing regulations, foreign tourists are required to obtain a temporary driver’s licence from the Motor Traffic Department office in Werahera.
