Four individuals have died in separate accidents in Thambuttegama, Hambantota, Eravur, and Wennappuwa, Police said.
In Thambuttegama, a 47-year-old resident of Rajanganaya died after his motorcycle collided with a cab on the Puttalam-Thambuttegama road on Thursday. The cab driver has been arrested, and Thambuttegama Police are investigating further.
In Hambantota, a three-wheeler veered off the road due to a tyre blowout, crashing into a pregnant woman and a child. The driver, along with the injured woman and child, were rushed to the Hambantota Hospital. The 23-year-old woman later succumbed to her injuries.
A fatal collision between a motorcycle and a tractor claimed the life of a 28-year-old motorcyclist in Eravur on Thursday night. The Eravur Police have launched an investigation.
In Wennappuwa, a 20-year-old motorcyclist was killed after his bike veered off the Thoppuwa-Dankotuwa road and crashed into a parked lorry. Both the motorcyclist and his pillion rider admitted to the Negombo Hospital, where the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries. The lorry driver has been arrested, and Wennappuwa Police are investigating the incident. (Newswire)
