121 Sri Lankan Army Personnel Depart for UN Mission in Lebanon

The 16th contingent of the Sri Lanka Army departed the country on July 2 to serve in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) as part of the ongoing peacekeeping mission.

The group comprises 121 personnel, including 7 officers and 114 other ranks, and is led by Lieutenant Colonel Y.S.H.N.P. Silva as the Contingent Commander.

A group of senior Army officials, including Major General U.K.D.D.P. Udugama representing the Commander of the Army, were present at the Bandaranaike International Airport to extend their best wishes to the departing troops.

Meanwhile, the 15th Sri Lanka Army contingent, which had completed its UNIFIL deployment, returned to the island on the same day (July 2). This group consisted of 114 Army personnel. (Newswire)
