A 17-year-old boy was reported dead after being assaulted by a group of persons in the Mahawela area last evening.
The Mahawela Police said the victim, who had sustained serious injuries in the assault, had died after being admitted to the Matale Hospital.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the victim had been assaulted by a group of persons who had used iron rods and motorcycle helmets in the attack.
A 55-year-old man from the Mahawela area has been arrested along with the objects used in the attack.
Meanwhile, the Mahawela Police has launched investigations to apprehend the other suspects wanted over the murder. (Newswire)
