A 19-year-old youth has died after falling from a service elevator at a hotel in the Pannai area, within the Jaffna Police Division.
Police said the incident occurred on the night of June 21. The deceased has been identified as a resident of Nirveli, Jaffna.
Investigations have revealed that the youth was employed at the hotel and had been using the service elevator—intended for transporting goods.
This incident follows a similar case recently reported in Moratuwa, where a worker was also fatally injured while using a service lift under unsafe conditions.
