22 Indian nationals arrested from Rajagiriya office

A group of 22 Indian nationals has been arrested yesterday (10) by officers attached to the Department of Immigration and Emigration’s Investigation Unit for residing illegally in Sri Lanka under expired visa permits.

The individuals were taken into custody from an office complex in the Rajagiriya area.

According to officials, the group had arrived in the country approximately three months ago. Among them, 17 had entered on tourist visas, 4 on resident visas, and one individual on a business visa.

Authorities launched the arrests based on information uncovered during a sudden interrogation of two suspicious Indian nationals by the Immigration Investigation Unit.
