A total of 2,983 personnel, including officers, who deserted from the Sri Lankan Tri-Forces have been arrested, the Ministry of Defence said.
The arrests were made during operations conducted from February 22 to May 30. Among those detained are 2,261 Army personnel, 194 from the Navy, and 198 from the Air Force.
In addition, the Ministry stated that the Sri Lanka Police arrested a further 330 deserters during this period. (Newswire)
