President to lead special investigation unit to probe corruption

The NPP caretaker government is planing to establish a specialised investigation unit led by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to probe corruption, Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya said.

In an interview with The Sunday Morning newspaper PM Amarasuriya said, “We are planning an investigative unit, led by the President. We plan to set it up soon. We will investigate some of the cases we have raised in the past and ones which have come up recently.”

According to the PM, the NPP government will ensure existing anti-corruption measures are effectively implemented. (Newswire)
