Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) leader Udaya Gammanpila today signed nominations to contest the Parliamentary Election from the Colombo District under the Sarvajana Balaya.
In a statement on social media, the former MP said he intends to contest the election with the hope of forming the main opposition in the next parliament and challenging the government.
“I am ready to become the voice for the public in the next parliament,” he added.
Meanwhile former Eastern Province Governor Anuradha Yahampath is also among those who have signed nominations to contest under the Sarvajana Balaya alliance.
However, there have been no reports whether National Freedom Front leader Wimal Weerawansa, who was also a member of this coalition will follow suit. (Newswire)
