Lokuge added to National List as his “body doesn’t allow” him to contest

Senior politician and former MP Gamini Lokuge says he is not contesting the general election this time because his body doesn’t allow him to do so.

However, Lokuge’s name has been added to the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National List, alongside the party’s National Organizer, Namal Rajapaksa.

When questioned by reporters about being included in the National List despite his physical limitations, Lokuge responded that he can still work while seated.

He further explained that it was the party’s decision to add Namal Rajapaksa to the National List and not have him contest the election.

Lokuge noted that Rajapaksa is responsible for organizing work across all 224 constituencies, and party members requested that he focus on those responsibilities instead of running. (NewsWire)
