The former Vice Chairman of the Tangalle Pradeshiya Sabha has been arrested for allegedly using a Jeep with a fake number plate, it was reported.
Officials from the Tangalle Crimes Investigation Division arrested the suspect today (Oct 15).
The vehicle in question was seized by the officials while it was parked close to a house in the Puwakdhandawa Weerasinghe Mawatha in Beliatta yesterday.
The Police said investigations had found that the vehicle had been used by the former Vice Chairman of the Tangalle Pradeshiya Sabha.
After it was found that the vehicle with the original number plate was owned by a resident of Gampola, steps were taken to arrest the former Vice Chairman of the Tangalle Pradeshiya Sabha on suspicion. (Newswire)
