Minister Vijitha Herath has instructed officials to connect the Western Province with other Provinces to enable obtaining vehicle revenue licences.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Highways, Ports, and Aviation, the key issue faced by the public in obtaining vehicle revenue licences was the lack of inter-provincial systems.
Even though it is claimed that such systems have been established, the statement said it has not yet been implemented for the Western Province, where the service is most required.
The statement further notes that the public has complained that if the vehicle of a person in the Western Province is previously registered in another province, obtaining the revenue licence from the said province was a very difficult task and one that consumes time, effort and money.
Accordingly, Minister Vijitha Herath has instructed the Western Province Governor to order the relevant department officials to take the necessary measures to connect the Western Province with other provinces as soon as possible, to resolve the issue. (Newswire)
