The parents of a teenager who had recently died by suicide at the Colombo Lotus Tower, have raised concerns over misinformation being spread by media related to the incident.
Issuing a statement, the parents of the victim highlighted the violation of media ethics by several media outlets, including publishing the name of a minor and other personal information related to the victim and her family.
Furthermore, the victim’s parents have also shed light on the circumstances that led to their daughter’s demise, stating that their daughter had been a victim of bullying by both parents and teachers of her school in connection to the deaths of her friends at the Altair Apartment Complex a few months ago.
