Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa says former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is prepared to vacate the government-allocated residence at any time if instructed by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
MP Namal Rajapaksa clarified that the house currently occupied by his father was not his personal property but was owned by the government, and had been allocated as a privilege afforded to a former President per the Constitution.
Assuring that they have no objections to leaving the house if such a decision is made, MP Namal Rajapaksa said the current President can inform Mahinda Rajapaksa in writing in this regard.
His remarks come amidst ongoing discussions about privileges and benefits extended to former Presidents. (Newswire)
