The Colombo High Court has ordered to remand an anaesthesiologist who had presented a falsified medical report to court.
High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne issued this order after reviewing a report submitted by a five-member medical board that examined the doctor’s health status.
The Attorney General had filed a case against the doctor for allegedly misappropriating funds obtained from other doctors by promising to import vehicles using tax permits.
Previously, the doctor had submitted a medical report to the court claiming he was unwell and unable to appear before court.
However, the medical board’s report indicated that the doctor was not suffering from any illness that would prevent him from attending court proceedings.
The court subsequently determined that the doctor had attempted to mislead the court by presenting a false medical report and ordered his remand until February 13. (Newswire)
