CAA seizes 30,000 packs of unsafe wheat flour

The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has seized 30,000 packs (25kg each) of wheat flour unfit for human consumption from a private warehouse in Sedawatta, Wellampitiya.

The discovery was made during a raid conducted following a complaint received via the CAA’s 1977 hotline.

Authorities are investigating whether the stock was being prepared for sale under the guise of animal feed.

Additionally, officials found 8,000 packs (25kg each) of imported Samba rice, which had reportedly been brought in before official approval was granted for rice imports. (Newswire)
