President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with representatives of nursing unions and specialist medical doctors to discuss concerns affecting the health sector at the Presidential Secretariat.
Discussing concerns with the Nursing Union, the President acknowledged the financial constraints faced by the government but emphasized the administration’s commitment to addressing key demands, the President’s Media Division (PMD) said.
He highlighted measures including an increase in the minimum salary by Rs. 15,000, adjustments to overtime allowances, and pension reforms.
Union representatives presented their concerns regarding salary structures and working conditions, urging prompt solutions.
President Dissanayake also held discussions with the Association of Medical Specialists (AMS).
Representatives of the AMS presented their concerns, including salary adjustments, pension benefits, income tax reductions, and professional allowances. They urged the government to address these matters promptly.
President Dissanayake stressed the importance of prudent financial policy management and assured that future economic decisions would be made with careful consideration.
The discussions also covered broader healthcare policies, including reforms in hospital management and resource allocation. Officials from the Ministry of Health and other relevant authorities attended the meeting. (Newswire)
