Former Provincial Councilor Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe has announced his decision to join the United National Party (UNP) – led by President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Warnasinghe, who was actively involved in politics alongside MP Patali Champika Ranwaka in the Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) party, made the announcement via a statement on social media.
“Thinking about the country and the future of the country, I took the best decision possible at this moment. My wife and I both have joined the United National Party today,” he said, in his statement.
Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe previously served as the Media Coordinator and the National Organizer of the JHU under the leadership of MP Patali Champika Ranwaka.
In 2020, he also contested as the Kalutara District candidate under the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) -led by MP Sajith Premadasa. Under the JHU, he has also worked together with former President and Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe has now joined the UNP, obtaining party membership from UNP General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara. (Newswire)
