The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) faction led by Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva has announced its decision to extend support for President Ranil Wickremesinghe in the upcoming Presidential Election.
According to the President’s Media Division (PMD), the decision was conveyed by the Central Committee of the SLFP during a meeting with President Ranil Wickremesinghe this evening.
At the meeting, the SLFP had expressed its unwavering support for the President’s victory in the forthcoming presidential election.
The SLFP is the latest party to pledge its support for Ranil Wickremesinge in the upcoming polls.
Ninety-two (92) Members of Parliament had earlier extended their support for the President in the upcoming presidential election. The MPs had pledged their support after meeting with President Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday.
Several prominent Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MPs, such as Prasanna Ranatunga, Bandula Gunawardena, Kanchana Wijesekera and Mahindananda Aluthgamage had also extended their support.
Over 100 former provincial council members from the SLPP and the United National Party had also pledges their support for the President today. (Newswire)
