Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Southern provinces and the Ampara, Batticaloa and Polonnaruwa districts after 1.00 pm today, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Fairly heavy falls above 50 mm are likely at some places. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places elsewhere on the island during the afternoon or night.
Showers may occur in the Western province and the Mannar, Puttalam, Galle and Matara in the morning.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Hambantota via Puttalam, Colombo and Galle. Showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places over the other sea areas around the island during the afternoon or night.
Winds will be south-westerly and wind speed will be 25-35 kmph. Wind speed can increase up to 45 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Kankasanthurai via Mannar and from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota will be fairly rough at times.
