The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for severe lightning in the Central, Uva, Eastern, Northern, North-central provinces and the Hambantota district.
According to the advisory, red alerts have been issued to 16 districts, effective until 11.30 pm today.
The public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by lightning activity. (Newswire)
