Prime Minister attends the President’s Trophy Rugby Tournament Final

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya attended the finale of the inter-school knockout rugby tournament for the President’s Trophy between Isipathana College, Colombo and Trinity College, Kandy, held yesterday (18 May) at the Royal College Sports Complex in Colombo.

Isipathana College, which holds the record for the highest number of President’s Trophy championship, successfully qualified for the final after defeating Royal College, Colombo with a score of 24–17 in the semi-finals held last week recording the 29th appearance in the finals, and once again secured the victory in this year’s championship.

The event was attended by Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Amal Edirisuriya, Director General of Sports, Shemal Fernando, Principal of Trinity College, Araliya Jayasundara, Principal of Isipathana College, Oshan Panditharathna, Group Executive of Dialog Axiata PLC, Supun Weerasinghe, and the company’s Group Manager for Branding and Media, Harsha Samaranayake along with the Chairman, Secretary, and officials of the Schools Rugby Association, and a large number of rugby enthusiasts.
