The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for severe lightning in the Uva and Eastern provinces and the Mullaittivu and Vavuniya districts today.
According to the advisory, effective until 11.00 pm today, amber alerts have been issued to 18 districts and red alerts to 07 districts.
The public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damage caused by lightning activity. (Newswire)
