A private bus traveling from Nuwara Eliya towards Kandy veered off the road and overturned in the Top Pass area on the Nuwara Eliya–Kandy main road on the night of May 23, police said.
At the time of the accident, 54 people were on board the bus, which was returning from a leisure trip to Badulla. The passengers had reportedly started their journey from Kurunegala.
Twenty-three individuals, including the driver, conductor, and 20 women, sustained injuries and were admitted to the Nuwara Eliya Hospital.
The injured passengers are residents of Kurunegala and Kiribbanwewa areas. Nuwara Eliya Police are conducting further investigations. (Newswire)
