Three supermarket branches in Dematagoda and Mattakkuliya have each been fined Rs. 200,000 by the Aluthkade Magistrate’s Court for selling expired food items. The fines were imposed on June 18, 2025.
The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) carried out the raids, which are part of a broader campaign to ensure food safety. The CAA has inspected over 187 supermarkets across the country in the past two months. (Newswire)
