The Sri Lankan Embassy in Kuwait has announced that it secured the release of 24 Sri Lankans, including singers, who were arrested on the Friday (2) at the “Sri Lankan Summer Nights” music concert.
The concert has been conducted without proper authorization from Kuwaiti authorities, leading to the arrest of 26 Sri Lankans by the Kuwaiti police, according to the embassy.
The embassy stated that among those arrested were the event organizers and artists who had traveled from Sri Lanka to Kuwait to participate in the concert.
Following the arrests, embassy officials appealed to the Kuwaiti police to pardon the Sri Lankans involved. As a result, 24 of the 26 detainees were released yesterday (3rd), as confirmed by the embassy.
However, the embassy noted that two of the event organizers remain in Kuwaiti police custody and are currently under investigation.
The “Sri Lankan Summer Nights” music concert was organized by the Kuwait branch of the “Ethera Api” organization. (NewsWire)
