Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka has placed a cash deposit to contest the 2024 Presidential Election as an independent candidate.
The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Chairman placed the bond at the National Election Commission today.
As of Friday last week, a total of 14 candidates were reported to have registered with the Election Commission to contest the Presidential polls.
According to the Election Commission, a total of 17,140,354 voters are eligible to cast their ballots in the 2024 Presidential Elections.
The Presidential polls are scheduled for September 21, while Nominations will be accepted on August 15. (Newswire)
