Former State Minister Prasanna Ranaweera has been remanded until 28 July in connection with an illegal property sale case in the Kiribathgoda area.
He was further remanded when the case was taken up before the Mahara Magistrate’s Court today.
During the hearing, the bail application submitted by Prasanna Ranaweera was also rejected by the Magistrate.
Prasanna Ranaweera was wanted by the Criminal Investigations Department over allegedly selling a plot of state-owned land in Kiribathgoda to a private party by forging documents.
The court had previously issued warrants to seize the properties of Ranaweera for evading arrest.
Having surrendered to the court after having evaded arrest for 61 days, Prasanna Ranaweera was arrested and remanded in May. (Newswire)
