Field Marshall Sarath Fonseka who tendered his resignation as the Chairman of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) earlier today, confirmed that he will be contesting the 2024 Presidential Election.
Addressing media, Fonseka said that it is his wish to lead a country rid of corruption. “Our Parliament which is full of corrupt politicians, will never be able to develop this country,” Fonseka said.
Fonseka added that he had lost all respect for the SJB and its leader, even though he had tireless worked to develop the party.
Fonseka asserted that the country must be rid of corruption, just as how terrorism was eliminated in Sri Lanka.
“When I said that the LTTE will be destroyed, nobody believed me. Not even the military generals. But I fulfilled this promise,” Fonseka said, adding that he envisions a corruption-free country under his leadership. (Newswire)
