The Commissioner General of Inland Revenue has issued a warning to taxpayers about a scam involving individuals impersonating Inland Revenue officers to collect money from business owners.
The Commissioner General clarified that all tax collections will be conducted through legal channels, with official written notifications provided before any action.
The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has reported the fraudulent activity to the Sri Lanka Police, urging prompt legal action.
Taxpayers are advised not to make payments to anyone claiming to collect taxes on behalf of the IRD and are encouraged to visit official IRD offices for any concerns. (Newswire)
