United National Front leader Patali Champika Ranawaka has criticized Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) leaders for sending their children to private universities while ordinary students face harassment in state universities due to JVP policies
Speaking at a rally in Kandy on September 1st, Ranawaka accused the JVP of promoting a culture of “ragging” in state universities, which has led to widespread fear among parents.
He argued that this situation forced many families to turn to private universities, a choice that JVP leaders themselves make for their children, leaving the children of ordinary citizens to endure violence and unrest in public universities.
