An international Test Cricket Ground will be established in Jaffna under a Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) government, Opposition Leader and SJB Presidential candidate MP Sajith Premadasa said.
Addressing a media briefing of the Jaffna Press Club, MP Premadasa said that along with the grounds, a sports development programme will also be introduced for the youth of Jaffna.
Pointing out that during his last visit, a controversy had arisen following his question about a Test Cricket Ground in Jaffna, MP Premadasa said that this conversation had led to the proposal to establish an international Test Cricket Ground in Jaffna.
Stating that he had already inspected Jaffna and found that a large land was being handled by the Sri Lanka Cricket institution, he further said that the land had been allocated but had not been developed into a cricket ground.
MP Sajith Premadasa said that the said land will be developed into an international Test Cricket Ground, while sports training facilities will also be introduced in the area. (Newswire)
