Leading presidential candidates President Ranil Wickremesinghe and NPP’s Anura Kumara Dissanayake are notably absent from a series of live debates organized by the March 12 Movement in view of the upcoming polls
Issuing a statement, the movement said that 16 candidates have confirmed their participation for the debates.
Accordingly, Opposition and Samagi Jana Balawegaya Leader Sajith Premadasa, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna candidate Namal Rajapaksa, Dilith Jayaweera of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka and Independent candidate P. Ariyanethiran will participate in the first live debate scheduled for Saturday, September 7, 2024.
Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Front Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe and Nuwan Bopage of the Alliance for People’s Struggle will take part in the live debate scheduled for September 8 along with several other candidates.
Meanwhile independent candidate and former minister Roshan Ranasinghe will participate in the debate scheduled for September 9, alongside five other candidates. (Newswire)
