Eight persons, including six Police officers, have sustained injuries due to firecrackers set alight by supporters of Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Presidential candidate MP Sajith Premadasa for his election rally in Kandy.
According to the Lankadeepa newspaper, supporters of MP Premadasa had lit the firecrackers moments before the rally was set to begin.
The injured individuals have been admitted to the Kandy Hospital. Two Police officers on duty for the election rally and two civilians had been injured in the incident. (Newswire)
