Govt calls for investors to develop Colombo railway stations into commercial hubs

The government has called for expressions of interest (EOIs) to develop several key railway stations in Colombo into commercial centers.

As per a proposal by the Minister of Transport, plans are underway to upgrade the Kolpetty, Bambalapitiya, Wellawatte, Slave Island, Dehiwala, and Mount Lavinia railway stations into commercial centres, through a public-private partnership model.

Cabinet Spokesman and Minister of Transport Bandula Gunawardena announced that Cabinet approval has been granted to identify and select suitable investors through the EOI process for this initiative. (Newswire)
