The final rallies of several main presidential candidates are scheduled to be held in Colombo and outstation areas today, as election campaigning activities for the 2024 Presidential Election ends at midnight today.
Following the conclusion of election campaigning activities, the silence period will be in effect from midnight today until Saturday (21), when the Presidential Election will be held.
As such, the final election campaign rallies of President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who will contest as an independent candidate, will be held at the Uyanwatta Stadium in Matara, Galle Samanala Stadium, Kalutara Public Stadium, at Homagama town and Kosgas Junction in Colombo during the course of the day
The election campaign rallies of Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) presidential candidate and opposition leader MP Sajith Premadasa will be held in front of the Panchikawatta Tower Hall Theatre in the afternoon.
The final rally of National Peoples’ Power (NPP) presidential candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake will be held at the Nugegoda Ananda Samarakoon open-air theatre, Kalutara, and Gampaha this afternoon.
Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) presidential candidate Namal Rajapaksa’s final election campaign rally will be held at Piliyandala Somaweera Chandrasiri Stadium, also this afternoon.
The final rally of the “Sarvajana Balaya” alliance, presidential candidate Dilith Jayaweera will be held at Kottawa Bus Stand this afternoon.
The Police will implement special traffic plans to accommodate the election rallies during the course of the day. (Newswire)
