The President’s private secretary Ananda Wijepala has shed light on the state vehicles that have been returned following the recent regime change.
Speaking to the media today, Wijepala said that apart from the Presidential Secretariat, dozens of returned state vehicles have been placed at three other locations as well.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has instructed officials to use the luxury vehicles previously utilized by past governments only for essential services, he added.
Wijepala revealed that these vehicles belonged to several prominent politicians, state officials and consultants/advisors.
The President’s private secretary said that it has been found that the vehicles have been provided for people for political benefits, such as for promoting the party.
He added that those who had received vehicles did not hold any educational qualifications or expertise. (Newswire)
