According to data from the Ministry of Health, 23% of the urban population in Sri Lanka suffers from diabetes.
Public health specialist Dr. Shanthi Gunawardena states that 30% of the urban population shows pre-diabetic symptoms.
She also noted that the overall percentage of diabetics in Sri Lanka has risen to 14%.
