Showers or thundershowers will occur at most places in Sri Lanka in the afternoon or at night today, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Showers may occur in the Western and North-western provinces and the Galle and Matara districts in the morning.
Fairly heavy rainfall of about 75 mm is likely at some places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, Eastern and Southern provinces.
The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas extending from Colombo to Pottuvil via Galle. Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the other sea areas around the island during the evening or night
Winds will be Westerly or variable in direction, and wind speed will be 20-35 kmph.
Sea areas around the island will be slight to moderate. Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (Newswire)
