Above 50 mm of rain expected in some provinces today

The Intertropical Convergence Zone, where winds from the Northern and Southern Hemispheres converge, continues to affect Sri Lanka’s weather, according to the Department of Meteorology.

Fairly heavy falls above 50 mm are likely at some places, while showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places elsewhere on the island during the afternoon or night.

Showers may occur in the Western provinces and the Galle and Matara districts in the morning.
