The Sri Lanka Air Force has deployed a Bell 412 helicopter and a Y-12 aircraft to search for six fishermen reported missing in two separate incidents off the coasts of Galle and Kalutara.
The search operation is being carried out on the directives of the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence. A special Search and Rescue (SAR) mission is currently underway, with both aerial assets scouring the affected coastal zones.
Authorities have yet to confirm the circumstances behind the disappearances, but adverse weather conditions are suspected to have contributed. (Newswire)
