“Brother will not be released” Minister tells TV channel

Deputy Minister of Justice Mahinda Jayasinghe has categorically stated that former MP and convicted murderer Duminda Silva will not be granted a presidential pardon, regardless of the narratives promoted by a television channel linked to his family.

Speaking in Parliament, Jayasinghe said, “We are not scared of TV channels, brother will not be released”

While not directly naming the channel, Jayasinghe alluded to its recent anti-government programming, suggesting it was a deliberate effort to exert pressure on the administration.

He emphasized that the government remains committed to upholding the rule of law and said that an medical inquiry is underway to ascertain whether Duminda Silva needs hospitalisation further.
