The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce has called on the Government to reconsider all aspects of the new e-Visa issuance process, stressing the need for a review of the pricing structure to better support the growth of the tourism sector.
Issuing a statement, the Chamber highlighted the ongoing debate surrounding the cost and procedure of the new system, arguing that the primary focus should instead be on destination marketing and enhancing the overall tourism experience.
While acknowledging the necessity of streamlining systems and processes, the Chamber noted the importance of doing so with the aim of staying competitive with regional peers.
They urged the Government to collaborate with the private sector and relevant stakeholders to create a pricing mechanism and system that would boost tourism arrivals. (Newswire)
