An attempted abduction was reported near a popular girls’ school in Colombo on Thursday, prompting a Police investigation and a public appeal for information.
According to Police, the incident occurred when the mother arrived to pick up her daughter from school in her vehicle.
An unidentified man reportedly entered the vehicle while it was parked, getting into the backseat where the child was seated. The suspect then demanded the mother drive the vehicle forward.
The woman had refused, pulled her daughter away from the suspect, and exited the vehicle while shouting for help. The suspect had reportedly fled the scene.
Security camera footage reviewed by Police shows the same man loitering near the school on April 29 and 30.
