Colombo Scouts, in celebration of BP’s Day (honoring the birthday of the founder of the World Scout Movement, Lord Baden-Powell of Gilwell) and in alignment with the ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ initiative of the Sri Lankan Government, partnered with the Sri Lanka Scout Association under the guidance of the District Commissioner, Mr. Sampath Wijesinghe, and the leadership of the Assistant District Commissioner – Rovers, Mr. Nafees Ahmed. The event was successfully held on Saturday, 22nd February 2025.
As part of the initiative, a cleanup of three major railway stations in the Colombo District – Colombo Fort, Maradana, and Slave Island—was conducted, with the participation of over 700 Junior Scouts, Senior Scouts, Rover Scouts, and Scout Leaders from the Colombo District.
The Chief Guest for the program at Colombo Fort Railway Station was Mr. M.F.S. Muheed, Deputy Chief Commissioner of the Sri Lanka Scout Association, along with Mr. Sampath Wijesinghe, Guest of Honour and District Commissioner of the Colombo District of the Sri Lanka Scout Association. The event was also honored by the presence of Mr. Sarath Chandrasiri Vithana, Chairman of the Executive Committee, Sri Lanka Scout Association Colombo District Branch. Additionally, Mr. J.I.D. Jayasundara, Guest of Honour and General Manager of the Sri Lanka Railways Department, graced the occasion. The welcome speech was delivered by Station Superintendent Mr. B.R. Wijethilaka, and Mr. A.A.C.K. Goshitha, Station Master – Allocation, was also present.
The Chief Guest for the program at Maradana Railway Station was Mr. Supun Jayalath, Deputy District Commissioner of the Colombo District Branch of the Sri Lanka Scout Association, along with Station Superintendent Mr. H. P. K. Pushpakumara.
At Slave Island Railway Station, the Chief Guest was Mr. Miral Priyanga, Assistant District Commissioner (Cub) of the Colombo District Branch of the Sri Lanka Scout Association. The event was also attended by Station Master Mr. Kumara.
