Colombo Additional Magistrate Keminda Perera has recalled the warrant issued for Jaffna MP Dr. Archchuna Ramanathan for failing to appear in court over a case related to a road accident.
A case had been filed by the Grandpass Police against MP Archchuna Ramanathan over a road accident on Baseline Road in 2021.
The Jaffna MP is accused of being involved in an accident and allegedly assaulting another motorist, seriously injuring him.
On 26 November, when the case was taken up for hearing, the Colombo Magistrate’s Court ordered the Jaffna Senior Police Authority to issue an arrest warrant due to the MP failing to appear in court.
Appearing in court today, the MP informed the court via his lawyers that he had failed to appear in court as he had participated in a Parliament-related activity and had forgotten the court hearing date.
Considering the facts, the Colombo Additional Magistrate recalled the warrant issued against the MP Dr. Archchuna Ramanathan. (Newswire)
