Election Commission General Saman Ratnayake has denied certain social media reports claiming that the parliamentary election date is unconstitutional.
Several activists argued that the election date of November 14th is invalid, as the law stipulates a five-week gap after nominations before the election can take place.
“Nomination ends on October 11th, and the law states that from that date, including the day of nominations, there must be a five-week interval. This date is correct,” he told NewsWire.
