A few showers may occur in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and the Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Galle and Matara districts today, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Uva province and the Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the afternoon or night.
Fairly strong winds of about 40 kmph can be expected at times over the Western slopes of the central hills and in the Southern province.
Meanwhile, light showers may occur in the sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Matara via Galle.
Winds will be westerly to south-westerly, and wind speed will be 30-40 kmph.
Wind speed can increase up to 50-55 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.
