Five persons were reported injured following a bear attack in the Diyabeduma area in Kimbulawala, Polonnaruwa recently, it was reported.
According to media reports, the injured persons were admitted to the Diyabeduma Provincial Hospital and later transferred to the Polonnaruwa General Hospital.
Reports of similar bear attacks had also previously been received from the Moragaswewa and Sigiriya areas.
It is reported that in response to the recent attacks and taking into concern public safety, wildlife officials had arranged for the bear to be tranquillised and relocated to a different area. (Newswire)
